ART IN THE PARK
Art in the Park: A series of art and fine handcraft
shows featuring juried artisans. Now in its 48th year, Art in the Park features 100 exhibitors in each of six shows May through October. Work includes: painting (oil, watercolor and acrylic), etching, stained and blown glass, basketry, wood carving and turning, clay, photography, fiber, jewelry and more. Dates for 2010 are May 15th, June 12th, July 17th, August 14th, September 11th and October 2nd. Shows are 10:00 am - 5:00 pm. Satellite parking available at Tanger Shoppes on the Parkway and Food Lion Shopping Center. Free transportation on a comfortable trolley available to the downtown and art show area available from 9 00 am - 6:00 pm. | ||||

BLOWING ROCK
CHARITY HORSE SHOW
The Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show began in
1923. The first years brought equine enthusiasts and their families to the quaint village of Blowing Rock, North Carolina every August for a week of competition and camaraderie. Originally the event lasted for five days, but over the years it has grown to cover a period of three weeks. The show is held at the L.M. Tate Show Grounds in J.E. Broyhill Park. Steeped in tradition, this event has consistently attracted annual exhibitors from all over the United States and several foreign countries and has the distinction of being recognized as the oldest continuous outdoor horse show in America. | ||||

AND HISTORY MUSEUM
Designated in 2001 as a 501(c)3 organization,
BRAHM has a growing membership base and widespread support for its mission: to promote the visual arts, history and heritage of the mountains through educational programs, exhibitions and significant permanent collections. The Board of Trustees and members of the community are currently engaged in the planning of a Museum building, for which construction will begin in spring, 2009. Summer programs and special events, quarterly newsletters and educational trips provide benefits to all who participate. | ||||

BLOWING ROCK TROUT DERBY
Held each year during the first weekend of April,
the Blowing Rock Trout Derby celebrates the opening of trout season in the High Country. Event hours are 6am-5pm on Saturday and Noon-4pm on Sunday. There is no entry fee and registration is not required. Just bring your catch to the American Legion to be measured. Trophies will be awarded at 4:15pm on Sunday in five categories: Men, Women, Girls (12-14), Boys (12-14) and Small Fries (11 and under). Any trout caught in NC public waters on Derby days are eligible for prizes. Kids can fish at Broyhill Lake and licenses are not required there. There is a limit of 3 fish per day at Broyhill Lake. Other nearby fishing spots for the Derby include Bass Lake, Trout Lake and the Middle Fork River along 321. Fishing licenses are required to fish in these areas, and NC Wildlife fishing regulations apply. Licenses and bait can be purchased at Village Hardware on Green Street. | ||||
