Selected highlights of High Season are as follows:

 

  • Art in the Park: Now in its second half-century, Art in the Park, a monthly May through October Saturday event, showcases craftspeople and artisans from all over the Southeast selling handcrafted jewelry, pottery, fiber, glass, photography, painting and more. Dates are May 17, June 14, July 19, August 16, September 6 and October 4.
  • Restaurant Week: New this year, Restaurant Week (May 30 – June 8) features more than a dozen of Blowing Rock’s finest eateries offering special three-course lunch and dinner menus that showcase their culinary skills at affordable price points ($15 – $30).   • Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show: In February, the Horse Show was awarded Heritage Competition designation by the United States Equestrian Federation, (USEF), joining an exclusive list of only 17 USEF-sanctioned horse shows held annually in the U.S. The 91st Annual show will take place June 5 – 8, July 22 – 27 and July 29 – August 3.   • BRAHM: At the Blowing Rock Art & History Museum, the main exhibit will be Barns and Quilts: A Rural Tradition. More than 20 paintings of rural barns by noted American artist Wolf Kahn, along with deozens of regional quilts representing the best of Appalachia, will be on display.
  • Artists in Residence: Edgewood Cottage on Main Street was the first home and studio of Elliott Daingerfield, and where he held his “Painting Lady” classes at the turn of the 20Th His legacy continues with a program that features local artists over eight weeks in June, July and August.
