SUMMARY:Mile of Flowers: Garden Tour
DESCRIPTION:The Mile of Flowers private garden tour is a much beloved Blowing Rock event. It will be held Friday\, June 27\, from 9am-3pm rain or shine! It is a walking tour around town where your group of 10 will be led by a “Garden Guide” who takes you to private gardens and gives you a short history of the area. \nThe tour includes many different types of gardens and covers around a mile. Wear comfortable shoes! A few golf carts will be helping move around people who need rides. \nFrom 1-3pm is a Tea Party hosted at the American Legion building. Come relax and enjoy the view. Reservations can be made in advance. The ticket price is $35 per person and groups of 10 or more get a price of $30 per person. Checks must be made out to the Blowing Rock Garden Club or cash is accepted as well. Reservations are made when payment is received. \nThis event is limited to 200 people. SUMMARY:39th Rosen Sculpture Walk - An Appalachian Arts Festival
DESCRIPTION:The nationally recognized Rosen Sculpture Competition and Exhibition has showcased contemporary American sculpture in outdoor settings across the university campus for the last 39 years. Join juror Joseph Bigley as he leads the outdoor tour of the 10 sculptures he selected as finalists for this year’s competition. Bigley is the Executive Director of the Western North Carolina Sculpture Center and professor of art at Appalachian State University; he shows his sculpture internationally. The walking tour will culminate at the Schaefer Center with an awards reception and complimentary boxed lunch. \nParticipants will gather outdoors\, at the reception tent adjacent to the Schaefer Center. The Rosen Sculpture Walk will take place rain or shine. In the event of heavy rain\, a presentation by the juror\, including images of the sculptures\, will be held indoors at the Schaefer Center.
