DESCRIPTION:Competition: 10:00am – 1:00pm\nWinner’s Recital: 3:00pm – 4:00pm \nMusicians compete in all disciplines for a chance to win cash prizes. The competition features a panel of distinguished judges who will provide feedback and mentorship to the contestants throughout the competition\, before announcing the winners. The application opened this past spring to undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled in a music degree program (up to age 26) at a college/university located in 11 Southeastern states: NC\, SC\, GA\, FL\, AL\, MS\, LA\, TN\, KY\, WV and VA. \nFirst Place: $2\,500 + afternoon recital\nSecond Place: $2\,000\nThird Place: $1\,500\nHonorable Mention: $1\,000\nAudience Choice: $500 \nNamed in honor of Mrs. Muriel Rosen and two of Mrs. Rosen’s family members\, Nancy and Neil Schaffel\, the Rosen-Schaffel Competition continues to uphold a legacy of excellence and artistic growth. SUMMARY:Mile of Flowers: Garden Tour
DESCRIPTION:The Mile of Flowers private garden tour is a much beloved Blowing Rock event. It will be held Friday\, June 27\, from 9am-3pm rain or shine! It is a walking tour around town where your group of 10 will be led by a “Garden Guide” who takes you to private gardens and gives you a short history of the area. \nThe tour includes many different types of gardens and covers around a mile. Wear comfortable shoes! A few golf carts will be helping move around people who need rides. \nFrom 1-3pm is a Tea Party hosted at the American Legion building. Come relax and enjoy the view. Reservations can be made in advance. The ticket price is $35 per person and groups of 10 or more get a price of $30 per person. Checks must be made out to the Blowing Rock Garden Club or cash is accepted as well. Reservations are made when payment is received. \nThis event is limited to 200 people. DESCRIPTION:This family friendly event has free admission. Expect to find live music from over 25 bands at 7 different stages\, an art vendor market with over 60 vendors\, 3 locations for beverages\, and food\, a kid zone\, silent disco\, and activities for all ages! \nOn Friday\, June 20 at 1:00 pm\, the event will kick off festivities. Beer will be available for purchase. Saturday’s activities start at noon and go all day with the final concert ending around 8 pm. The party can continue from 8:30 pm into the night with a silent disco at the North Depot Street Stage\, featuring three different DJ streams. With North Depot Street\, South Depot Street\, and part of Howard Street being closed for the festival\, you’ll be able to freely walk around to the stages\, food and artist vendors\, and other activities with ease! \nWe look forward to seeing you at Boonerang Music & Arts Festival! Sparse on the details of technique\, it is about the simple\, fundamental principles – a mindset for success.
