The Studio Craft movement of the 20th Century witnessed a broad resurgence of artists working in mediums historically understood to be less precious than their fine art counterparts. Clay, metal, glass, wood, and fiber were the materials of daily life, constituting the tools and wares of domestic and professional labor.

Exhibition: Lee Hall – Immediate Landscapes

This exhibition brings together a range of Hall’s compositions and begs the question, “What constitutes a landscape?” Moreover, why is landscape as a concept and signifier so persistent across the visual cultures of the past and present? In the case of Hall’s paintings and collages, the artist uses broad swaths of color to build her compositions which are at once visually dense while also flattening the dynamic vistas she interpreted.

BRAHM stewards a growing Permanent Collection of over 800 objects. Museums build collections for a variety of reasons: preserving artworks and other objects of historical importance for future generations; cataloging, documenting, and researching said objects; and displaying and interpreting the collection for the public through exhibitions, publications, and other educational programs.

Snarky Puppy at The Schaefer Center

Snarky Puppy is a collective of sorts with as many as 20 members in regular rotation. At its core, the band represents the convergence of both black and white American music culture with various accents from around the world. Japan, Argentina, Canada and the United Kingdom all have representation in the group’s membership. But more than the cultural diversity of the individual players, the defining characteristic of Snarky Puppy’s music is the joy of performing together in the perpetual push to grow creatively.
