Foliage around Bass Lake in Blowing Rock, elevation near 3600ft
Fall leaf viewing will be really good over the next few days, and bring your jacket and hat! The colder temperatures will certainly help shift remaining greens to more seasonal colors. Bass Lake is an excellent spot to enjoy color right now. The trail around the lake offers golden canopies, and the views of the Manor House don’t disappoint. The vantage point from the house is excellent as well.
Peak color can be found at many spots along the Parkway and at higher elevations. At Green Mountain Creek on the Blue Ridge Parkway, the reds and yellows are especially vibrant. The photo below was taken Friday.

On Monday, foliage color lit up the roadways even through the fog.

On a trip to Mount Jefferson on Sunday, it was clear that color will be peaking there soon. And in this photo from the Blowing Rock attraction, you can see that color has arrived on the ridge, but the blush of red and yellow is just beginning in the view below.
