Peak color in the area means that nearly every drive is a beautiful one. Particularly, the Blue Ridge Parkway through the Boone, Blowing Rock, and Deep Gap areas is incredible today, and should be for several more days. This means that the Parkway can be very busy, so if you are interested in alternate routes, try Shull’s Mill Road, Bamboo Road, Flannery Fork and Payne Branch Road, Flat Top Road, and Brown’s Chapel Road. Some of these roadways can be used to take the “scenic route” between more-used highways. However, the color along Highway 321 between Blowing Rock and Boone is just as brilliant as anywhere in the area.
