After ten years of steady growth and incremental enhancements, organizers of the spring culinary and libations festival in North Carolina’s Prettiest Small Town have decided to kick it up another notch, renaming the event and adding even more to its appeal. Produced by the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce, SAVOR Blowing Rock runs from Thursday, April 14 through Sunday, April 17.
Along with input from volunteers and participants, Billie Rogers, Events Director at the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce, has been shepherding SAVOR Blowing Rock through its recent changes and additions. “With the explosion of craft breweries and distilleries, and the more than 100 wineries in the state, changing the name and offerings of SAVOR allows us to expand its scope and maximize the region’s tasty assets. And because it’s located in beautiful Blowing Rock at a special time of the year, visitors can enjoy not only the event experiences, but also the spectacular surroundings,” Rogers said.
In addition to the many seminars, pairings, dinners and tastings, Rogers highlighted the addition of two new cooking classes ~ one on grilling and one on Caribbean cuisine ~ as well as two downtown satellite tents (in addition to the Main Tent), making SAVOR more walkable in Blowing Rock’s unique, Norman Rockwell-esque downtown. There will be entertainment and music offered throughout the four days, highlighted by the RockitMan Radio event on Saturday from 1-5 p.m. The Internet radio station and professional recording studio will showcase local bands at the Blue Ridge Mountain Club tent downtown and provide them with free copy of their live performances.
