There are many places you can go to shop, dine, enjoy music and the arts, and experience lively events and attractions. Similarly, there are places where you can commune quietly with nature, hike, fish, zipline, rock climb, canoe or horseback ride. But there are very few places where you can do all of that within easy distance.
Blowing Rock is one of those places…a quaint village nestled right against the wild and undeveloped areas of the Pisgah National Forest and the Blue Ridge Parkway.
The months of May through October in and around Blowing Rock highlight this experiential diversity like no others, offering visitors access to the beauty of the High Country along with a multitude of things to do about town. Events taking place in Blowing Rock during the High Season include the monthly Art in the Park (now right off Main Street); Blowing Rock Art & History Museum’s Plein Air Festival, Made in the Mountains Quilt Event and Art & Antiques Show; Musical happenings such as Shagging at the Rock, Music on the Lawn, Symphony by the Lake, Monday Night Concerts, Music on the Veranda; and the Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show.
To name just a few.
Blowing Rock is accessible from anywhere in the region, less than two hours from Charlotte and Greensboro, three hours from Knoxville and Raleigh and five hours from Atlanta and Charleston.
