Joining John Doyle this year for John Doyle’s Irish Christmas is renowned singer-songwriter Cathie Ryan and Boone native and fiddler extraordinaire, Maura Shawn Scanlin. John and Cathie are longtime friends and have shared decades of musical collaboration. Together, they created arrangements for many of Cathie’s studio recordings. They have toured as a duo throughout Europe, are members of the all-star ensemble The Irish Music Masters, and feature in the PBS special The Soul of Christmas. John and Cathie share a deep love of traditional music and continue to add to the tradition with their own original songs as well as songs they have written together. Two of these, Carrick-a-rede and Grace O’Malley, are now firmly in the Irish music repertoire. John has just recently recorded with the very talented Maura Shawn Scanlin on her new stellar solo album due out in 2026. A young musician of exquisite ability, audiences can look forward to top-shelf musicianship in this trio.
