Learn to paint in a relaxed atmosphere, inspired by Barn Above Pond by Wolf Kahn. Each participant goes home with a finished work of art. All materials, including canvases, acrylic paint, brushes, and aprons, are provided.
Head over to Daniel Boone Native Garden for the free, family-friendly Roots in the Garden concert series! Concerts will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and will also feature visual artists.
Explore the mountain after hours with your own personal guides during our Grandfather by Night series! You’ll discover some of the park’s nighttime wonders, watch a stunning sunset (weather permitting) and experience the mountain as never before!

The Saddlebred classes are loaded with chrome and flash. The atmosphere at a Saddlebred show is electric, with teams shouting encouragement and rooting for their favorites.
This popular shutterbug weekend includes presentations from top nature photographers, hands-on field courses, a friendly contest and the rare opportunity to photograph the mountain’s spectacular scenery and native animals before and after regular business hours.

Head to Grandfather to celebrate the birthdays of our resident animals with games, contests, crafts and surprises. The park’s wildlife habitat staff hosts a fun-filled afternoon for guests, as well as programs to celebrate the park’s furry and feathered inhabitants.
Head over to McCoy Minerals and see a rough stone cut into a brilliant gem! The demonstration will be from 11am-2pm and the gemstone will be raffled off to a lucky winner!
This one-of-a-kind event features a special 20-minute train ride behind a talking Thomas the Tank Engine. Plus, enjoy live entertainment, interactive activities, and a full day of fun at North Carolina’s first theme park!
