This engaging concert of songs, stories and narratives about slavery and the quest for freedom reveals the hope, power and eventually, the triumph that was accomplished by a network of multicultural allies. Music and the Underground Railroad provides an understanding of the secrets and passion of this powerful era and an understanding of the use of song to communicate information during this time in American history. Part of the APPlause! K-12 Performing Arts Series.

    With sincerity and an ease on stage that belies their years, brothers Christopher and Taylor Malpass layer their smooth vocal blend and skillful musicianship with the deep respect they pay to the country music legends who have paved the way. Both gifted musicians and songwriters, they have shared billing with artists including Ray Price, Willie Nelson, Doyle Lawson, Rhonda Vincent, Marty Stuart, Doc Watson and more.  The Malpass Brothers show was rescheduled due to COVID closure.     High Country Beer Fest

    High Country Fair Grounds 748 Roby Greene Road, Boone, NC

    There will be 1500 people and 35 breweries. Breweries will give out 2 oz. samples - the only payment you make is to enter the festival. There will be merchandise available for purchase but preordering your shirt on the website will ensure we have your size. In addition to breweries and delicious food, we will have 3 bands playing during the fest and free fermentation seminars where you can learn about fermented foods from around the world! There will be shuttles to transport you from the ASU campus to the fest and, if you drive to the fest, you can leave your car at the festival grounds over night if you are unable to drive home or get a DD. Expect limited taxis and mobile car ride services in Boone during the event. Once in the festival the beer, music, and seminars are free. Food and merchandise are available for purchase with cash only - due to the location of the festival, the internet is unreliable. Water will be available for free. High Country Beer fest is a 21-and-up event due to alcohol consumption. No children will be admitted. Dogs & pets are not permitted into the festival, on the bus, or shuttles. WEBSITE

    Buskers Fest in Boone

    The Watauga Arts Council is partnering with the Downtown Boone Development Association and the Jones House to present a First Friday Art Crawl like no other!

    Head over to Downtown Boone to experience the arts in action as you walk the streets visiting the galleries, shops, and restaurants. 

    Artists, musicians, and performers will be on the streets from Turchin Center all the way down King Street. Explore the galleries and shops of downtown Boone and enjoy a rich experience along the way.
