The High Country Modern Quilt Guild was formed in 2016 for local artists who specialize in quilts with a modern twist. This week, twenty Guild members will offer creations to include wall hangings, quilted paintings, thread paintings, decorative stitched fabric bowls, placemats and table runners, baskets, rope bowls, hand bags, tote bags and one of a kind wearables.
The Appalachian Theatre of the High Country commences its 85th Anniversary year with its signature fundraising event and gala on Friday, August 25, 2023. The Gatsby-era themed event will take attendees back to the roaring 1920’s to experience the iconic Theatre’s Art Deco grandeur with all-inclusive food, wine and local brews, a sampling of signature cocktails, silent and live auction and an evening filled with themed entertainment.

This evening will be focused on the dynamic world of High Country rock climbing. BRAHM will be joined by representatives the Carolina Climbers Coalition and filmmaker Andrew Kornylak to view three of his films about the climbing community.
The September 1 event features a 7:00 p.m. full screening of the 2004 cult film classic Napoleon Dynamite followed by a lively free-form discussion with fan favorite cast members Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite), Efren Ramirez (Pedro Sanchez) and Jon Gries (Uncle Rico).
