The USASA series is back once again in NC on January 27 & 28! This event series is open to both skiers and snowboarders of all ages and abilities. Whether you are a seasoned ripper or beginner, we invite you to come out and experience a well run, super fun, and safe event series this winter.
The Polar Bear Plunge takes place at Chetola Resort every year. The brave of heart dress up and plunge into the lake to support the charity of their choice. It is free entry to watch and costs $35.00 to plunge.
This year the Rotary Chilly Chili Challenge is taking place at the Blowing Rock School Gym! Participating restaurants will be serving their special chili on Saturday, January 27th and donating a portion of the proceeds to local nonprofits!
For a little extra WinterFest Fun, head over to McCoy Minerals on January 27th from 11:00am to 4:00pm. There will be Railroad Spike Knife Making Demonstrations.
Join us for the Annual WinterFest Beer Garden! This year’s event will feature fantastic local breweries from all around. WinterFest’s motto is “Don’t Hibernate, Celebrate!” and that’s precisely what we’ll be doing at the WinterFest Beer Garden. Join Girls Go Shred for their first Ladies Park Night of the season on Saturday, February 3rd from 7pm-9pm at Appalachian Ski Mountain! Admission to the event is free with the purchase of a lift ticket and open to women of all ages and abilities, both snowboarders and skiers.
Old-time and bluegrass musician Alice Gerrard has championed traditional music for close to 60 years. Beginning with her trailblazing early duo recordings with Appalachian singer and activist Hazel Dickens, the 89-year-old’s Gerrard channels many modes of creative expression pulled from her unmatched archive of inspiration.
The Shred for the Cup Series is the benchmark competition series in the region, with 3 events held throughout the winter season that test skiers & snowboarders skills in a variety of park disciplines (Rail Jam, Big Air, and Slopestyle).
“There are a lot more people out there with Jay-Z and Johnny Cash on their playlists than you think,” says Gangstagrass Mastermind Rench, who had previously made a name for himself as an in-demand Brooklyn country and hip-hop producer and singer/songwriter. He should know – he’s toured the country and abroad with a band of bluegrass pickers and hip-hop MCs to the delight of standing-room crowds everywhere.
