Last week we saw our most impressive colors at our highest elevations. Over the weekend we experienced wind that scattered some of our more vibrant leaves at the ridges of our mountains. However, there are still great colors to be found below 4,500 ft. The oaks have just started to show out their yellow colors. We will likely continue to see the colors descend in elevation over the next couple of weeks.
Some good locations to view colors are: in local towns, on Hwy 221 from Blowing Rock to Linville, and Shulls Mill Rd.
