Its fall here in the High Country, which means leaf lookers from all around come to see the magnificent autumn colors our beautiful mountains have to offer. There are many spots around the area to check out, but if you want to turn your leaf viewing experience into a fun-filled activity, here are a few more memorable ways to view the leaves this season:

Grandfather Mountain Guided Fall Walks:
When: October 1-11, 2019. 1-1:20pm
Where: 2050 Blowing Rock Highway, Linville, NC 28646
Grandfather Mountain’s guided walk series, “Fall Color Ramble,” gives leaf-looking visitors a chance to experience the breathtaking fall colors of the Blue Ridge Mountains though various locations around Grandfather’s grounds. Guests will have the opportunity to explore the variety of tree and plant species with members of Grandfather’s naturalist staff.
“Fall Color Ramble” will be offered daily from October 1-11 and is included in admission. Call ahead or stop by the Nature Museum to see where the day’s walk will start.  The Ramble culminates on Oct. 12 with a day full of fall-colorful programs and activities. Beech Mountain Fall Hayride:
When: October 5th, 2019. 12-2pm
Where: Beech Mountain, NC
Roll through the mountain roads, taking in all the sights and colors of the mountains in the fall on these hayrides! There’s more with an afternoon of fall festivities like fresh-pressed apple cider, games and more. Call today to rsvp or for any questions you may have. (828)387-3003

Ski Chairlift Rides:
When: October 12-13 and 19-20, 2019
Where: Sugar Mountain Resort Main Lodge, 1009 Sugar Mountain Drive, Village of Sugar Mountain NC 28604
During Sugar Mountain’s Oktoberfest and Banner Elk’s Woolly Worm Festival, enjoy the area’s fall foliage while riding the Summit Express Chairlift to the top of Sugar Mountain! You can sit and relax while witnessing the astounding views up in the air. Chairlift operates from 10:00am until 5:00pm during both festivals. Lift ticket prices are: $15 for a one-time ride, $40 for an all-day ticket (children 4 and under ride FREE with paying adult). Admission for Oktoberfest and the Woolly Worm Festival is free.
