Reconnect this Valentine’s Day and spend some quality time with your special someone. Blowing Rock runs on mountain time, so things move a little slower here. It’s a great place to relax, unplug, and slow down with your loved one. Really take some time to talk and find some common interests. We’ve compiled a list of activities that allow for conversation, reconnection, and quality time with your significant other.
Many of our local lodging options have a cozy, romantic atmosphere perfect for a couples getaway. Most of our hotels have romance packages that can be added on at reservation to start your trip off right. Spice things up with a bottle of wine and some chocolate covered strawberries. When you’re booking your room is the perfect time to get excited about your trip!
Ice Skating
Head over to Appalachian Ski Mountain for an ice skating session. Hold hands and glide around the rink together. Pick each other up when you fall. This can be done either day or night for a different ambience.
Hiking
Prepare a snack and go on a winter hike together. See a waterfall or take in the sweeping views of the gorge. We have all types of trails here so you can make it as simple or strenuous as you’d like. Make sure to dress in layers and pack water. You can still become dehydrated even if it’s cold.
Sunset & Vine
Go to Sunset & Vine before or after dinner for a glass of wine or a flight. Sit and chat over delicious wines. Try four different selections with one of their consciously curated wine flights, and discuss which ones you like best. Take a bottle of your favorite home with you!
Shopping
Blowing Rock is synonymous with shopping. We have tons of delightful little stores that carry special styles and keepsakes. Find presents for your friends, family, and a little something for yourselves. Walk around and delight in all of your finds together.

Share some quality time enjoying art and learning a little more about the history of the area. All of Blowing Rock Art & History Museum’s exhibits view the art through a distinctly Appalachian lens making it a fresh, and unique experience. Discuss what you like and what you don’t with your sweetheart and get to know each other better.
Spa Day
Book a spa service with Chetola Resort or Westglow Spa for a day of pampering and relaxation together. They both offer couples massages as well as other great amenities to choose from. Release the stress that builds up in regular life and enjoy your getaway.
