The Blue Ridge Parkway meanders for 469 miles through North Carolina and Virginia, offering incredible views, a variety of hiking trails, and many historical and cultural sites. Blowing Rock is located on the Blue Ridge Parkway, nearly at the midpoint. The Parkway is open year-round, weather permitting in winter, and there is no admission cost. The local Parkway visitor center information desk and America's National Parks bookstore are located inside the Moses Cone Estate house with a craft shop operated by the Southern Highland Craft Guild. The visitor information desk and bookstore are open from May through October, while the craft shop is open from early April through November.
