BLOWING ROCK ATTRACTION

North Carolina's oldest travel attraction. Short scenic walk includes views of Grandfather Mtn, Table Rock & Hawksbill. Garden waterfall, observation tower & unique gift shops. BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY

Milepost 294 - The Blue Ridge Parkway meanders for 469 miles through North Carolina and Virginia, offering incredible views, a variety of hiking trails, and many historical and cultural sites. Blowing Rock is located on the Blue Ridge Parkway, nearly at the midpoint. The Parkway is open year-round, weather permitting in winter, and there is no admission cost. The local Parkway visitor center information desk and America's National Parks bookstore are located inside the Moses Cone Estate house with a craft shop operated by the Southern Highland Craft Guild. The visitor information desk and bookstore are open from May through October, while the craft shop is open from early April through November.

MOSES CONE MEMORIAL PARK

Milepost 294 - 25 miles of preserved Carriage Trails wind through the estate that once belonged to "Denim King" Moses Cone and his wife, Bertha. Wander the trails, fish at Bass and Trout Lakes, see the historic mansion, and hike up to the top of Flat Top Mountain to see the Cone family cemetery plots and breathtaking views of the area.

HORN IN THE WEST

Seasonal outdoor drama that tells a story of Daniel Boone, the famous frontiersman and the hardy mountain settlers of the Blue Ridge Mountains in their struggle to preserve their freedom during the years before and during the War of Independence. The drama highlights those settlers who came to the region seeking freedom and escape from the British tyranny. Summer evening performances at the Daniel Boone Amphitheater in Boone, NC. Hiking, campground and picnic area. Trail to overlooks of falls and gorge. Falls are located within the Linville Gorge Wilderness Area and are among largest falls in the region. Climbing in the gorge is prohibited.

PISGAH NATIONAL FOREST

The 192,000-acre Grandfather District of Pisgah National Forest stretches from near Black Mountain, along the east side of the Blue Ridge Parkway, to just south of Blowing Rock. The forest provides outstanding recreation, spectacular scenery, a vast array of wildlife habitat, and sustainable timber.
