Serving the residents of Watauga County since November 1917 by providing relief to victims of disasters and helping people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.

The Community Care Clinic was established in 2006, in response to a growing number of uninsured in our community. It is estimated that over 4,000 adults in Watauga County will remain uninsured in spite of the Affordable Care Act. Our clinic is located in the Hannah Building (the former Health Department) off of Bamboo Road.

We have two main goals: Mitigate unnecessary pain & suffering in animals who can’t access emergency veterinary treatment due to owners’ financial limits. Assist owners in making animal care decisions based on needs of the animal, not financial limits, helping reduce unnecessary euthanasia.

Our mission is to support patients, survivors & their families in the High Country. Through events like our Walk/Run for Breast Cancer, we raise funds that are awarded as scholarships to local women & men fighting breast cancer. An all-volunteer foundation whose funds remain in the community.

Our mission is to relieve poverty & hunger in a compassionate manner for families & individuals experiencing economic hardship & food shortages. Assistance may include food, medicine & referrals to other community resources. We meet emergency needs while acting as a resource to help find a more permanent solution.

North Carolina Guardian ad Litem equips community volunteers to serve abused and neglected children by advocating for their best interests in court.

When disaster strikes, Samaritan's Purse is there to bring help and hope in Jesus' Name around the world. Samaritan's Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people since 1970, helping victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God's love through His Son, Jesus Christ. A Christian housing ministry building safe and affordable homes with families who earn 40-70% of Watauga County median income. Donations of land, materials & volunteer labor keep homes affordable. Families contribute sweat equity & receive zero interest mortgages.

Over 200 adoptable cats, dogs, guinea pigs & bunnies. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, vaccination, microchip & more! A 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to making the lives of pets better in Watauga County through sheltering, low-cost spay/neuter & education. Day, seasonal & annual dog park passes available at front desk w/ proof of vaccination. See website for hours.
