Blowing Rock has a rich history of being called home by artisans and artists alike. There is something about the atmosphere that uplifts and inspires people and that includes artisans of all stripes. The Blue Ridge National Heritage Area’s Blue Ridge Craft Trail, a trail committed to preserving and promoting the distinct crafts of Western North Carolina, has a large presence in Blowing Rock because of some of the special artists and locations we have here.
Winter trails offer clear views and refreshing air- try these with easier terrain and access, from Cone Carriage trails to downtown history.
The Boone Fork Trail is a moderate 5.2-mile hike that traverses streams and goes through tunnels of rhododendron. The path is incredibly varied, with multiple stream crossings, boardwalks over boulders, pastures filled with wildflowers, and views of beautiful waterfalls. In fact, Hebron Falls can be accessed about 1 mile down the trail (head to the right from the trailhead). This trail is a favorite for many locals! The trailhead is located at the Price Park Picnic Area, which has plenty of parking and lots of picnic tables. Public restrooms are available at the trailhead as well.
