BRAHM is excited to announce a series of Pop-Up Art and Craft Fairs to support area artisans recovering from the impact of Hurricane Helene. In the aftermath of the storm, many fall events across the High Country were canceled, leading to a significant loss of income for local creators. These small fairs hosted at BRAHM will provide artisans with an opportunity to recover lost revenue and reconnect with the community during the holiday season.

Lucy, this workshop invites you to explore the dynamic interplay of color, light, and form, as you learn to capture the essence of landscapes with energy and expression.
The Blowing Rock Plein Air Festival is a four-day, open enrollment plein air painting event. It takes place in the beautiful mountainous area surrounding the town of Blowing Rock in western North Carolina, from Tuesday, August 20th, to Saturday, August 24th, 2024.

In May 1868, Tom Dula was hanged in Statesville, North Carolina, for the murder of his sweetheart, Laura Foster. The prior trial, his second, made national news and reveals much about regional and national understandings of “mountain folk” in the post-Civil War period.
Join App State’s Dr. Brett Taubman at BRAHM for a fascinating tour of fermentations. There will be opportunities to sample each of the fermented products described, all prepared by the Fermentation Sciences program at App State.
Join App State’s Dr. Howard S. Neufeld for a vibrant exploration of two key questions: why do tree leaves turn color in the fall? Is it an evolutionary adaptation or just what leaves do when they die? Each autumn deciduous trees put on a colorful display as they prepare to go dormant for the winter.
This evening will be focused on the dynamic world of High Country rock climbing. BRAHM will be joined by representatives the Carolina Climbers Coalition and filmmaker Andrew Kornylak to view three of his films about the climbing community.
Join BRAHM for another Square Dance!
The dance will take place in the Wilson Education Center at BRAHM.
If you have never square danced before or are a little rusty there will be instruction from 6 pm - 6:30 pm. Then the dance will kick off at 6:30 and last until about 8 pm.
After four days of painting "en plein air," painters are invited to display their completed works at the "Wet Paint" Art Show & Sale on Saturday, August 19th.
