Inn at Ragged Gardens & The Best Cellar

A classic Bed & Breakfast Style Inn, the building that Inn at Ragged Gardens is nestled in is over a century old. One of Blowing Rock’s previous mayors built the mansion home and carriage house for his wife. Now an 11 room and 3 cottage inn, it has earned its name of Ragged Gardens set on two acres of manicured lawns and well tended gardens. In the summer months it hosts the resoundingly popular Music on the Lawn every Friday from May – October, weather permitting. The Best Cellar, is the on-site restaurant and offers “Mountain Casual” cuisine in a romantic atmosphere with several fireplaces for winter dates. To really amp things up, get a reservation to dine in the wine cellar!

Gideon Ridge Inn & Restaurant

A Bed & Breakfast style inn, Gideon Ridge Inn is secluded and only has 10 rooms all with private baths. Chetola Resort & Timberlake’s Restaurant

Chetola is a historic lakeside resort with an inn and condos that centers around a historic manor house previously owned by Luther Snyder, the “Coca-Cola King of the Carolinas.” The resort is set on a sprawling, 75 acre, piece of land right in the middle of Blowing Rock. It is about a 10 minute walk from the Inn to downtown Blowing Rock. Chetola boasts Timberlake’s Restaurant which was opened with the help of North Carolina artist, Bob Timberlake, and has been through several updates and menu changes since. Both the resort and the restaurant offer romantic ambiance and impeccable service.

Hellbender Bed & Beverage

Hellbender is a classic B&B type inn and offers a unique experience in that it is a little more casual than the other Inns on our list. However, it is still super cozy and ideally situated just steps from Main Street Blowing Rock. The inn only hosts 8 rooms so it is nice and private as well. Hellbender’s Restaurant is delicious and utilizes local ingredients as much as possible. The food is also a little more laid back than some others on this list, featuring smash burgers, salads, and specials every day of the week. Each room is appointed with a mix of rustic and modern touches that make the experience feel comfortable and yet elevated. He is unique in that he became famous during his lifetime, and was able to build the manor for himself and his family. He named the manor, Westglow.
