Since our last Rosebay Rhododendron report, not much has changed, as the majority of bushes we see in Blowing Rock and around the Blue Ridge Parkway have yet to pop. Similarly to last week, we still see mostly green with a few early pops of color, with a select few buds beginning to show themselves a bit more. In some areas, such as Sims Pond (pictured here), the Rhododendron closer to the water are currently more vibrant than others, so if you want to ensure you see some over the coming days, try searching near bodies of water such as Sims Pond or Trout Lake!

We are starting to see the first blooms of the Rosebay Rhododendron here in Blowing Rock and along the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are some early blooms that have fully opened, but most remain closed or have only one or two flowers showing. Some bushes are still completely green! We are waiting in anticipation for the rest of the blooms to open up and can’t wait to keep you posted right here.
