Fall color is becoming more noticeable in the Blowing Rock area as we get closer to October. The forests are still mostly green, but autumn foliage is really getting started now. According to the local Fall Color Guy Dr. Neufeld, it’s mostly yellows from the birches, magnolias and tulip poplars. If you’re on Facebook, you’ll want to follow Fall Color Guy; lots of great information, biological details, and beautiful photos.
For today, here’s a photo from downtown Blowing Rock. One of the maples on Main Street is getting a great head start on fall foliage as it shifts to gold. You can see the poplar in the front is still fully green, while the maple behind the building is getting some firey red tips.
