Though we are just past peak at Blowing Rock’s elevation, there is lots of autumn color in town and on the nearby Parkway. The view areas, like those from the Blowing Rock and other local overlooks, are just starting to show color. While maples and poplars are among the earliest trees to show fall foliage, oaks tend to turn later in the season. These oaks on Old 421 near Deep Gap are a good example of the progression of many in the area.
