The golden tones of morning and afternoon light really make the fall colors come alive! Here, the maples on Main Street behind the Speckled Trout show off brilliant orange and scarlet.
This year, the peak color times are proving difficult to predict. Daily weather has a large impact on the timing of fall color, and lately our weather patterns have not held steady. We had a chilly start, then a warm week. And again, this past weekend’s cool, sunny days were perfect for color acceleration, but as we head in the rest of the week the forecast is calling for much warmer temperatures ahead. According to Grandfather Mountain, “A forecast for warmer weather by the end of the week could yet again stall color development, meaning what was originally thought to be an early peak could possibly be late.” Despite the inability to pinpoint peak color conditions just yet, we are sure that the season will be beautiful as always!
