Beautiful fall color lines the drive between Blowing Rock and Linville this week! It’s a favorite route for many in autumn. It’s easy to see why.

This weekend looks like it will be a good time to view beautiful color in Blowing Rock and similar elevations in the High Country. Appalachian State University biologist Dr. Howard Neufeld (“The Fall Color Guy”) stated on Saturday “The take home message is this: the best color can be found starting at the Yonahlossee Overlook near Grandfather Mountain and on up north to the Rough Ridge Trail on the Parkway. Even so, it is not yet at peak. There is still a lot of green, which means that next weekend [Oct 20-22] should be even better. And it’s supposed to get cool this week, which should hasten color development.
