Each year over Thanksgiving weekend, Chetola Resort hosts fun and festive events for you to enjoy with your family. On Friday, November 29 and Saturday, November 30, experience the old-fashioned thrill of a horse-drawn carriage ride around the lake. In addition, kids can enjoy free visits with Santa and free cookie decorating! There is a delicious buffet to enjoy, as well as cookies and hot drinks, plus showings of classic holiday movies!
All of this takes place during the first nights of the Festival of Lights. Thousands of holiday illuminations light up Chetola beginning on Thanksgiving weekend and running through Blowing Rock Winterfest in late January. The Festival of Lights opens to the public on Sunday, November 29. As you drive around Chetola Lake, view glittering ice skaters, a nativity scene, a colorful train, Rudolph’s “Holiday Catch,” and much more.
