While the Blue Ridge Parkway is always a beautiful drive, a trip down 194 from Boone to Todd is highly recommended right now! Plenty of pastoral scenes, gorgeous hillsides, and pockets of forest makes this an excellent fall drive. At a slightly lower elevation than Blowing Rock, these areas will peak a few days later than our town and the surrounding locations on the Parkway. Todd is worth a visit as well. A small community tucked along the New River, its home to a historic general store, a beautiful riverside park, and a local bakery. Get there early in the day for the sourdough- it always sells out!
