Today’s view is a good representation of color progression below 4000 feet. It’s been very cloudy and rainy over the last few days, but views are colorful despite the covered skies. Today, Grandfather Mountain is reporting foliage that is near or at peak color. Here at lower elevations, color is really starting to pop but peak color is not quite here just yet, as today’s photo shows. For anyone visiting the area, however, it’s a short hop down the Blue Ridge Parkway to areas over 4000 feet where peak color can be found. And the Parkway is a beautiful drive right now.
