Flat Top Manor was the mountain home of textile baron Moses H. Cone. Friends in Greensboro will recognize the name from the local hospital and the White Oak denim plant- that’s the same Cone. This morning’s view from the historic property was stunning, and very quiet. Trees below the manor, surrounding the lower trails, are showing peak color this week. Those immediately around the water at Bass Lake peaked earlier, as usual, and the walk around the water is beautifully strewn with fallen leaves.
