The chilly fall weather brought the first frost of the season to much of the High Country this weekend. Cooler temperatures help accelerate the color transition, so we’re looking forward to even more changes in the foliage displays this week. This view from Boone’s Trace Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway shows some golden foliage across the pasture glowing in the morning light, as the sun’s warmth turns the frost to mist on the ridges. There’s goldenrod and aster blooming right by the overlook, bringing more color to the scene. The second image is the view along the Parkway at the overlook, where trees along the road are just starting to show oranges and reds of autumn.
