While peak color for the Blowing Rock and Boone area is still some time away, there are some striking displays of fall foliage here and there. This brilliant red maples are showing their brightest hues right now along Blowing Rock Road in Boone. Lots of green can still be seen on the hillside in the background, though it is clearly taking on the warm hues of fall.
