William Butler Yeats once stated, “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” Art educators do just that. Daily, these unsung heroes work to encourage their students while nurturing imagination and self-expression.
BRAHM is honored to celebrate the creativity and vision of Watauga County Art Educators, both working and retired. Highlighting the artistic contributions of local educators, this exhibition features works by Alyssia Ruggiero, Ashley Tate, Courtney McWhorter, Dacia Trethewey, Elle Lowry, Genal West, Kelly Blake, Lindsey Postlethwait, and Lori Hill. These talented individuals are not only devoted to their students but also to their own artistic practices, enriching our community through both education and creativity.
In the wake of Hurricane Helene, BRAHM is dedicated to support the rebuilding of arts education infrastructure. This exhibition recognizes that creative education plays a pivotal role in cultural and economic resiliency, recovery, and vibrancy. The future belongs to creative thinkers; arts education paves the way for the next generation of compassionate and innovative leaders.
