Another overcast day in the High Country as edges of hurricane weather move into the area. This old maple by the Jesse Brown Cabin on the Blue Ridge Parkway is still brilliant under the gathering clouds. You can also see that some emerging color is tinting the trees behind the firey maple.
This cabin can be found at E.B. Jeffress Park at milepost 272 on the Blue Ridge Parkway, north of Blowing Rock. It’s named for Jesse Brown, an African-American farmer and preacher, and his Cool Spring Baptist Church is also still standing nearby. The park features the historic buildings, two hikes, and the well-known Cascades waterfall.
