We love our Main Street, however, there are some fantastic businesses located all around town that you might have missed simply because they are located off the beaten path. Take note of these eight hidden gems so that you can get the most out of your time in Blowing Rock!
Our first hidden gem, tucked right off Valley Boulevard across the street from Tanger Outlets and the Speedway service station, is Moon Thai Sushi Ramen. Blowing Rock’s only Asian Fusion restaurant, they serve up authentic and contemporary Thai and Japanese cuisine in a cozy atmosphere. With a full sushi bar offering the freshest sashimi and an extensive sake menu, Moon Thai Sushi Ramen is the perfect place for a date or dinner with friends.
Right off of Morris Street, tucked into the nook locals know as Watership Down is de Provence et d’ailleurs. This store brings the vibrance and richness of southern France to Blowing Rock! Danielle, owner and operator, is from the Provence region of France. She imports authentic goods from her first home- “Provence and other places.” Sweet ceramic poulettes, Santons de Provence of all types, spices & preserves, sparkling beaded jewelry, and French books fill display cases. She also offers fine table linens -weighty, colorful, and highly detailed- from Garnier Thiebaut. Stop by for a special item that you won’t find anywhere else in the region. Nous parlons Francais!
Located off the intersection of Valley Boulevard and Sunset Drive is my mountain home. The store is not hidden, but is a converted church building. Often people drive by and don’t realize that they are missing a unique shopping experience! Offering a mix of local and regional artisan wares as well as hand-picked décor and gifts, their authentic mountain style resonates beautifully with rustic luxe, updated farmhouse, and contemporary decors. They cater to the local resident, second homer, and casual visitor to the High Country by offering custom décor pieces, unique gifts, entertaining solutions and decorating services.
4. FA SUPP Shop
FA Supp Shop is more than a supplement shop, though they do have great supplements! They also offer TRX classes, nutrition coaching, lifestyle and fitness coaching, as well as assisted stretching and mobility. The store is stocked with high quality protein powders, supplements, and sports gear including pickleball and yoga. Whether you’re making a lifestyle change or just picking up a pickleball bag for your aunt, they’ve got you covered!

Fun Fact: Did you know that one of our most successful galleries is located right next to the local grocery store? Home to carefully curated fine art from top local artists, Blowing Rock Frameworks & Gallery is a choice stop for art lovers of all stripes. They have also been known to sell antique art including works by the well-known North Carolina artist, Elliott Daingerfield. Currently, the gallery is the Nation’s leading seller of Daingerfield paintings, having sold 180 since opening in 1994. In addition to selling stunning art, they also offer museum quality custom framing and shadowbox services for preserving existing pieces.
Hidden back off of 221 on Green Street is the sister store to the ever-popular Mustard Seed Market. Mustard Seed Home is an expansion of curated home décor and accessories. They bring an efficient shopping experience with an organic and luxurious feel to renters, homeowners, and visitors alike. This location is the perfect place to go find a gift for anyone, from the hostess to that special someone. Get décor inspiration from one of their many design books, or accessorize that room with antiques, fine furniture, or floral arrangements!
Conveniently located in Tanger Outlet Center, Egg Rollin’ is a local favorite. However, it is hidden in the back of the courtyard so it is often missed. The business began as an award-winning food truck serving only egg rolls. The food truck still runs strong and now they have this permanent location that offers an expanded menu with appetizers, sandwiches, egg rolls, beer, and wine. The business even offers catering services for special events! Egg Rollin’ is a great choice any time, but it is also an excellent place to go for shorter wait times and faster service.
These 8 hidden gems are absolutely worth seeking out. We hope you’ll enjoy exploring Blowing Rock and possibly find a new favorite spot too!
