Experts predict that peak color for the High Country can likely be seen next week. Right now, the most consistent color is being reported around Grandfather Mountain and similar elevations (4500+ feet). For now, most local color is spotty. Today’s view at Green Hill is a good example:
Blue Ridge Parkway at Green Hill
Elevation around 3700 feet
Many of the old maples in town are also putting on some vibrant colors. The wider views at this elevation still have a lot of green right now. Which, of course, is just potential fall color! Here’s the view of Cone Manor from Ravens Rock Overlook, about a mile up the Parkway from Green Hill. Some reds and yellows are popping along the ridges.
