In coordination with the Lees-McRae College Theatre Arts production of “Language of Angels,” the Stephenson Center for Appalachia will be presenting “A Gallery of Appalachian Culture” on Friday, Nov. 17. The walk-through exhibition will be set up in the Hayes Auditorium lobby following the end of Friday’s 2 p.m. matinee.
Set near Lenoir, North Carolina, “Language of Angels” is full of themes central to many Appalachian stories, including grief, isolated locations, and the thin line between the natural and supernatural. “A Gallery of Appalachian Culture” will build on these themes by featuring a variety of booths, sponsored by Lees-McRae faculty, that showcase different aspects of Appalachia, including its geography, ecology, art, drama, folklore and legends, music, and history.
