Price Park Picnic Area is beautiful right now! A large proportion of the beech trees along Boone Fork Creek are exhibiting vibrant golden hues. The maples are still mostly green, though there are currently several sourwoods nearby that are a firey red. Asters are in bloom, and the ferns are beginning to turn from green to amber.
It couldn’t be a more beautiful spot to enjoy a picnic. We highly recommend taking a morning coffee, perhaps even breakfast to enjoy in the quiet before midday. At 9am this morning, there were only a handful of vehicles in the lot, and the burbling of the water and birdsong the only sounds to enjoy. The picnic area is a large space, with plenty of picnic tables along the water, under the trees, and on the lawn. The trailhead for the Boone Fork Trail starts from the picnic area. A 5 mile loop, the trail offers a moderate tour through varied terrain. It’s close to town- about 5 miles from downtown Blowing Rock. More photos from this morning:
